Duane's Letter; Part One
Hi all, my son Dylan (the one with the dimple) and I have been up early this morning cleaning out the e-mail account. Dylan brought his blanket up here to share with me. I thought he had gone to sleep but I opened up a cute web site with two penguins and "the things you do" mid playing. That was the song the Wonders did...you know one-hit Wonders... He kept his eyes closed and his head on the back of the recliner but one hand raised up as if he had a pick and was strumming a harp or air guitar every time the rhythem guitar played a chord.
I have played in several local bands and written quite a few songs. I play several instruments and I tell you this to share the love I felt for my little five year old man. Could be some of Archie's musical talents have passed on one more generation. Speaking of generations it does seem like a great idea for Rick, Chuck or somebody to immortalize some of Uncle Vy's accomplishments and ideologies. Now that Uncle Dean has become such a precious commodity we need to pay particular attention to his perspectives, insights and wisdom. My take on the funeral was it was the richest out pouring of love and mutual support that I have ever witnessed in my life. The stories and poem would have brought tears to the eyes of a man of stone. The songs, wreath and coffin were a testament to a legacy of a man that many knew and loved. At the gravesite I saw more love support and healing. I am so glad I was there. My Uncle Vyron was the richest man I have ever met.
I hope that Darien and Me and Karla can give us all a better reason to get together next summer. It was neat putting faces with names and seeing some of the places that I have not seen for 30+ years. I lost my dad this last spring and it has been odd not to think of him in the present sense. He taught me many lessons, some I had to re-learn the "right" way. It was hard to forgive him for some of the crap but I didn't have to walk in his shoes.
Hey Ron, my account is empty now so send all the photo's you want! This has rambled on long enough. Dylan wants to do some computer kareoke --Dylan's the eggman, Dylan's the eggman, Dylan's the walrus!---
Love to all.
