"Tree House in The Draw."

A long long time ago Rick and I built a tree house in a giant oak tree. We thought it was miles up. We used wire and made a swinging ladder, Then of course we made a rule that if you couldn't climb the ladder you couldn't go up there. Needless to say the only time I was ever up there was when we built it, after that I couldn't get up there.

Twenty years later the tree fell over and dad stumbled upon the remains of our fort.He salvaged a few boards and some of the wire, then after he'd pryed out some info from us he wrote a poem and presented them to Rick And I. It's the nicest thing he's ever done for us.

In the woods by a draw, forty feet from the ground,
on a branch of an Oak, these wires were found.
Where aspiring young boys built a fortress of dreams,
The boards were there too, a part of the beams.

I think that's the way it went.
