"The King of the North"

Well, we are back in Coon Rapids, safe off the highway after an enjoyable week-end in the Northland. I was getting a little depressed looking at all the projects I am going to have to get started on now that Spring is finally here. It really was nice up there and Josh and I walked the Indian Trail from the water-front to Diamond Point, as I did many times when I was a boy in the old days. I'm sure Josh had as much fun as I had back then. It seemed pretty similar, but they have done a lot of “improving” along the college there and there is an access road along the beach quite a ways up that wasn't there. They have also done quite a bit to keep the banks from eroding, and even the beach itself, below the college has some sort of experimental combination of sticks, wire mesh and wood fibers installed to try to hold everything in place.

I had started a letter up there in response to a lot of the other letters that came in response to my Iraqi Stuff letter, but I probably won't send it because, for some reason everyone can watch the same news and read the same Bible and come to completely polarized opinions of what it all means. Jesus told the Disciples that they were privy to an understanding that the Pharisees wouldn't have, so when they saw the miracles, etc. they came to a different, and challenging interpretation, but somehow, I guess I was under the opinion that we were all enlightened, Spirit Filled Christians and that wouldn't happen to us. In fact, the Church is largely back where it was when Christ walked the streets 2000 years ago, and the words he used to scold the Pharisees and Money Changers in the Temple could as well be used on us today. Peter still didn't get it until after the Resurrection, and he had went back to fishing, so why should I be surprised that many of my contemporaries don't catch on?? Paul had to explain to the Corinthians that the Way of the Cross was a stumbling Block to the Jews and Foolishness to the Greeks, and so it is today. Everyone is still expecting Christ to come storming in with a blazing sword and smash the opposition into submission. In fact, most Christians today would explain that he was to come the first time as Servant and in the latter days as conquering King. What really sobered me this morning was to realize that the true King of the North spoken of by Daniel, Ezekial and others is more than likely us, and here come our hordes, storming into the Middle east wreaking havoc and destruction, just as it was foretold we would. The Anti-Christ is alive and well, and we are it. Rick Written by:

Well, I think this has been bandied about nearly enough, but I would like to clarify a few more issues. I think much of the rest of the World views "Whitey" as being that particular bunch of Anglo-Saxons intent on invading the entire world and gaining Political and economic control of those people and that land under the guise of spreading their Religion and Politics. The Spanish probably started this invasion under the guise of spreading Catholicism, and everyone knows what they were really intent on was getting all the gold, tobacco, and other riches they found along the way. But the real invasion came under the Crown, when most of the rest of the World came under the control of the Commonwealth, The British Empire. Most of these nations have long since won their independence from this aristocratic people, starting in 1776 in our own country. However the domination by these White Overlords has continued right up to the present. Technically speaking, they were mostly not enslaved outright, but they were certainly treated as Second Class Citizens. Nelson Mandella was finally released from prison and allowed to lead his people as recently as 11 February 1990 when he was finally released from his life sentence in prison. He gained the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993. Many people in The Third World countries still perceive "Whitey" as being that dominating Power Monger intent on Gaining Political and Economic control of a country under the guise of spreading their particular brand of Politics, Freedom and Democracy and Protestant Christianity in the bargain. That is fundamentally my argument, and what I meant in March of 2003 when I sent out an e-mail to the group, pondering our invasion of Iraq and seeing us as the Conquering King of the North prophesied in Daniel.

For the king of the north shall return, and shall set forth a multitude greater than the former, and shall certainly come after certain years with a great army and with much riches.

So the king of the north shall come, and cast up a mount, and take the most fenced cities: and the arms of the south shall not withstand, neither his chosen people, neither [shall there be any] strength to withstand.

And at the time of the end shall the king of the south push at him: and the king of the north shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over.
