"Moving Memories."

What a collection of "Jewels" this morning . I am sitting here in "this Old House" looking out on the white expanse seeing the cars gliding by at a sedate pace as the road out there must be somewhat treacherous. My thermometer this moning was rather ominous since it said -8 , Yes 8 BELOW ZERO. It is very still out there though . Not a breeze as it so often is when it gets especially cold. The sun is shining very brightly which is probably why it got so cold.

It is 66 years since we moved up here from the Jones place as we moved up here in November of 1939 . George Bundy rode along with us holding our Aladdin Lamp as I was holding our baby Connie . Lewis was a little tyke having just turned two in Sept. and we were riding that mile on an open wagon pulled by our "bug ' and surrounded by the last of our household possessions we hadn't previously got up here. It wasn't much compared to what would have to be disposed of out of this place and such a close convenient move. We have been pretty fortunate that way (at least I have been ) My first move was only a half mile from my childhood home to the Jones place which belonged to an aunt and uncle of mine. and when we moved into this house which was when Ron was a baby 53 years ago it was just to transfer everything from one house into the one right next to it. and of course no other equipment or cattle etc. I think it was five cows we had when we came up here from Jones' and whatever calves we had. I don't remember who helped drive them up the road.
