"Lawn Tractor Arrest."

I just thought I had better tell you what happened to me last week end. I went to a garage sale at one of Claire's duplexes and bought a 10 HP riding lawn mower for $150. So I tried to ride it home. I had Dawn driving behind me with her flashers going and Rte 34 has a 45 mph zone where I wanted to travel for about 1/4 mile.

Well, I got about half way before the police showed up saying he had half a dozen phone calls on me. Actually, I was getting close to the light at Boulder Hill Pass where I could get off so I kept going until the traffic let up and I made my turn and onto the parking. He was thoroughly disgusted and flustered that I didn't stop immediately. He gave Dawn a serious talking to also. Then he said, "You can't ride this you will have to push it home." I said, "OK I will push it over to a near neighbor and give them $5. to park it in their yard for a day or so." He asked if I knew a near neighbor and I said, "No, but I will after today." He said, "Are you really 85 years old?" I said, "Sure, and in better shape than when I was 50." Then I touched my toes and he said, "Don't do that again, I can't let you do that.", so I grabbed the back of the mower and pushed it about 2 feet. He said, "Don't do that!", so I said, "Mason, hop on and steer for me." He was afraid I would overdo and have a heart attack so he said, "Get on and drive along the other side of the street, I will follow you home." So he kept his lights going and followed me all the way home! Dawn noticed we had met a fire truck and a couple ambulances so we figured they had called him. He even had a backup show so Dawn thinks it will be on funniest home videos. She saw several taking pictures of two squads chasing a lawn mower. He did let me go with a warning. Linda thanked me for waiting until I was 85 to break the law. LOL
