After we left Nita's, we drove towards the Baja in Mexico. South of Ensenada on the Pacific Coast, we find the La Bufadora blowhole (one of only about nine in the whole world), and here is Gary just before he gets wet :-). After some sight seeing and shopping (they do have wonderful pots, mosaics and paintings that are done by the native population, but be sure you look carefully for Made in China stickers), we drive back into California. One of the things we wanted to see was a hotel Gary had supervised the building of thirty years or so ago. This one is near San Diego in the not so little anymore town of Escondido, and still looks pretty much like it used to, but the powers that be have decided to tear it down and put up apartments :-(. We got a gorgeous sunset that night in San Deigo. We stayed a couple of days in the area to visit with, sight see with and play golf with, Tony and Dee. The picture was taken by a helpful tourist on the fishing pier at Shelter Island (why do some people think we would want to preserve for posterity the pants and shoes we were wearing instead of getting a close up of the smiling faces?). Behind us, it does show some of the U.S. Naval Air Station across the bay on North Island. much love, Connie & Gary
