Lewis Dean Northup was Born on the 4th of September 1937 to Vyron and Helen Northup.

My original statement about Lew is as follows: Lewis is about the only one in this database who has a personal page that never had any children, because he was my big brother and I have a lot to say about him. This previous statement has to be amended, as it was recently discovered that he had a daughter born to a girl whose parents did not want anything to be known about this affair. We have recently made contact with that daughter through an old friend of Lew's, Warren Sjoberg. I am going to make an attempt at this time, to get Lew's page updated to reflect this fact.

Lew did not spend very much time at home after graduating High School in Bemidji, but returned often. He went into the Air Force right away, and while stationed in South Carolina, my sister, Connie went out to live with him. He continued in this vein the rest of his life. He moved often from Seattle to Minneapolis to Pleasant Valley and back to Seattle. He was married three times, but I will only mention his third wife, Gayl Arlene Stott, (B. 14 May 1938 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin) who was also an Air Force gal. She was from the area North of Minneapolis called North Branch. They were married May 4th 1963, in Seattle, Washington, and they never had any children. No one ever told me why that might be. Lewis worked around mobile homes most of his life and it was one of them that took it one day in Febuary, 1975. It was icy and a jack slipped. Gayl died of cancer on 29 Jun 1995. They are buried together at the Island Lake Cemetary in Alaska Township, Minnesota.

In 2013, my SIster Diana got a letter from Warren Sjoberg that he had received from his ex-wife. She was remembering Lew and Gayle and gave a pretty good over-view of those years. I copied it verbatim and here it is:

Hi Warren, Thanks Warren for all that info. I met Gayle in my 11th grade of high school She transferred in from St Francis high school. I befriended her and we became very good friends in our high school years and after. We graduated in 1956 and had lots of fun running around. Her dad gave her a 53 studebaker conv. for her graduation and we sure had fun . She introduced me to a fellow from St Francis that I dated. He went into the navy after high school and so that didn't last for us. Gayle also went into the air force after high school . She was in Germany for awhile and then into Florida. When she came back she had married a fellow from Anoka, the ironic thing was, I had dated him too. I didn't like him so that didn't last, and was quite a shock when they came up here to visit us and she had married him. I guess he cheated on her so that didn't last. She had two sisters Elieen, and Doris. Our dads both worked at Nothern Pump , so we had that in common. Her mother was very nice and I was to her place many times. After she got divorced she started coming up here and staying for the week-ends and that is when she met Lewie. He was staying here with us at that time. I think that was the second time he came back here. It was after he was working the carnivals. He was gone for some time doing that. He first came here after he got out of service and we met him at Michel and Ardies. That is when you were doing those patterns and he was helping with that. I think Claudette was about 4 months old. After her and Lewie started traveling to Washington and other place, I kind of lost track of her. It was hard because I was working a lot and her and Lewie were back and forth out west a lot. Remember when she surprised us and came home for our wedding. I think she had planned that a long time, but she was always full of surprises. I hope this gives your friend or Lewie's brother some information.. I don't have a lot of pictures, as we didn't have a good camera then. We had that 35 mm camera that only you could work. So I don't have a lot of pictures of those days. It was very tight with money for us. I may have one picture of Lewie holding Claudette and that’s about it. I might think of other things later..............have a great nite........Jan
