Ethel Lucinda Knox was born December 21, 1889, the daughter of Myron Wesley and Hattie (Gardiner) Knox on 7 Apr 1894. She married William Betts on May 1, 1912 and they had six children. She died July 14, 1977. William (Billy Betts was born 14 August 1878 in New Brunswick, Canada. His parents were James Betts and Jane Price, both of New Brunswick, Canada. Billy went to Minnesota to Blackduck to become a logger. He met Ethel there where she was teaching school and they were married at her parents home in Nebish. There is a write up in the Bemidji Pioneer on May 2, 1912. Billy was a Cruiser for the Crookston Logging Company and eventually died in a logging accident in Idaho, where he was a Logging Superintendent. He was listed as River Man in the 1900 Census, but by 1920, he was listed as Superintendent, still in Beltrami County. In the 1930 Census, Ethel was listed as Widowed in Benewah County, Idaho. Billy died on 15 February 1928 in Emerald Creek, Idaho.
